Ok, so I know no one reads this, so it's ok to admit it here that I actually went out and bought The Vaccines album- "What did you expect from The Vaccines?"... I expected fucking The Libertines, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths... the way NME were arse licking them, wanking them off and doing their washing.
But I'm going to see them when I see Arctic Monkeys so I might as well know their music, and what they're about... I'm kind of forcing myself to like them.
Hype aside they are an ok band.
But they really don't deserve to be the next big thing, On What did you expect from The Vaccines, the songs sound samey, it's background music. I wouldn't pay to see it (by choice).
Only one track stands out to me, "Post Break-Up Sex"... because it's catchy and I sing it to my Vaccines hating friend to piss her off, so I know it quite well.
I'm quite undecided on The Vaccines, I don't think I have reviewed it very well at all. If I were you though, if you like their singles, just buy them, it would be a waste to buy the whole album, believe me, it's the same song recycled 11 times.
NME seem to think The Vaccines will be some kind of musical revolution, NME can fuck off. There are way better things happening and it's not The Vaccines that are going to change music as we know it.
An NME review also compares it to The Strokes' "Is this it?"... I don't even know what to say to that.
I'd probably give the album 2/5
There are no interesting points at all, it is consistently ok.
The band itself caused quite a stir, one of them, the singer maybe (I dunno, they are really fucking boring... too boring to care) is like really posh or something? You know when you read something? and you just really couldn't give a shit? yeah? I'm not gonna get into that then.
Did I get what I expected? Yes... I "don't believe the hype."

Things I am looking forward to about this first half of the year;
1. I am finally going to start my driving lessons! I have sent off my provisional driving licence application, so next week hopefully I'll be able to book some lessons;
If I were able to drive, I'd be so happy, I'd not have to use the shitty public transport as much, I'd be able to drive to college... I'd be able to drive wherever I wanted if I had the petrol!
And now that the bad of the winter is over, it's not going to be horrible to drive around in the weather
2. Pete Doherty at Leeds O2 Academy- I am actually so looking forward to this, it's all the way in May but that doesn't not make me any less excited for it! I am actually so in love with this man, and I think it would just be brilliant to hear his solo stuff live... I was lucky enough to see The Libertines last year, which was amazing! And I also saw Carl Barat last year which was oh so good too! I just need to see Pete! (Then I'll have a think about whether I should go see Gary's new band ahahah, but of course I need to see Babyshambles too)

This is one of my favourite pictures of Pete.
3. Angles- The Strokes. Need I say more? I saw the new album art last night, and the new single is just like WOW... it's really happening! I am hoping they'll tour, which they should do... I still need to find a friend who likes The Strokes which is going to be hard as most of them haven't heard of them. Yes. I was shocked too;
Me: It was well exciting last night when the new Strokes single came out
Friend: Who?
Me: The Strokes...
Friend: Never heard of them.
Me: YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE STROKES??
Me: YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE STROKES??
Friend: No... ere Daniella, have you ever heard of The Strokes?
Daniella: No.
4. Arctic Monkeys-
This bit needs a few parts to it, because there are a few things you should be looking forward to about Arctic Monkeys.
- Alex Turner is releasing an EP soon, it's a soundtrack EP for the film Submarine... I can't wait for it!!!! I would also love to see the film too.
- A NEW ALBUM. Now this is probably the best news you could have, and it just irritates me when people say stuff like "Oh I hope it isn't like Humbug..." or "I didn't like Humbug"... Humbug was amazing! I'd even go as far to say that it's their best album, Alex Turners lyrics are just so much more now, and the sound is oh so sexy and dark. And just wow. So I am really excited to see where they are going to go after Humbug, because in my eyes, it's pretty hard to beat.
- They are playing two shows in Sheffield... and I have tickets! I'm going on the friday, Miles Kane and The Vaccines are supporting, I don't particularly like The Vaccines, I don't get the hype to be honest. I saw Arctic Monkeys in London last March at the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, it was sooooo good! Once I saw them, I wanted to see them a million times over.
So yes, these are the main things I am looking forward to, now, I better get ready, because, I'm going to walk the streets of Leeds tonight, looking for a cheap gig to go to... because I can.
Bye.

A boring person, with a boring post, and a sexy picture of Carl Barat.
I can't be arsed doing this 30 day challenge, I'm bored of it... I get bored of things quickly, I can't stick to anything I promise myself I'll do, thats probably why I'm more of a spontaneous person than one who plans things, and is organised, otherwise, I wouldnt do anything!
Fuck it.
Bye for now, here's a picture of the ever so sexy Carl Barat to make this post look a bit more interesting, and this is why I only have one follower... hahah, I guess having a blog and the innability to think is not the best mix, but I'm working with it! xxxo

Days 9 to 22.
Day 9: Something that makes you sad when you think about it.
I guess all the normal things that would make you sad? Like when your family members have died, stuff like that? Oh and the fact that I don't think I'll ever be able to take porridge seriously and enjoy it.
Day 10: One thing you've lied about.
I don't lie a lot, just about stuff like illness when I want a skive off college, I don't lie about anything bad.... I'm a good girl :)
Actually, this bowl of porridge is pretty tasty ;)
Day 11: Would you rather be stranded on a dessert island with someone you love for 10 years or someone you hate for a month.
Hmmm well this is a no brainer, someone you hate for a month! Things can be resolved easily, plus I don't think I hate anyone enough or at all where it would be hard to 'survive'.
Day 12: Something you're currently worrying about.
Hmm the usual stuff, college and boys.
Day 13: Name one person off of blogger who you'd marry, one you'd throw off a cliff and one you'd shag.
Well I only know one person on here, so, Paddy lets shag and get married. And I'll see how I feel about throwing you off a cliff later....
Day 14: Something disgusting you do.
Bite my nails? Is that disgusting, well I do it.
Day 15: Lyrics that apply to your current situation/mood.
We Get On - Kate Nash
Day 16: A drunken story.
Ermm at Leeds fest I got really drunk, and ended up kissing this boy I barely knew for 3 hours sober all night, ermm, he wanted to have sex with me in the tent, but I refused, because I'm not a slag, AND his dick was really really really small, it freaked me out.
Day 17: Something you regret.
I don't regret anything, well maybe, I wished I spent longer doing my art, ah well.
Day 18: To do list.
Get a job.
Get my a levels.
Get a life.
Day 19: Post a picture of yourself without your hair and makeup done.
No.
Day 20: Your best sexual experience/ your sex life or lack thereof.
It is pretty much non existent.
Day 21: Press ctrl and v and post
http://www.nme.com/news/pete-doherty/54794
It's some news about that there might be some more libertines gigs this year... exciting stuff!
Day 22: Post a bit of your last IM conversation.
Urgh ok, i was going to finish this but this my friends are coming to annoy me. Bye x

Day 8: Your last night out in detail.
Hmm well I guess the last time I went out was when I went to see Miles Kane, I don't think it would be very interesting for me to describe it in detail;
I guess this is what happened;
I guess this is what happened;
- We got there.
- We gave a man our tickets and got our hand stamped.
- We went for a walk round.
- We got a pint of lager each, and sat and drank it.
- We went to the toilet.
- We watched the support - We managed to get the very front, because no one was really watching them, they were all busy at the bar.
- We stole their set lists.
- We watched Miles Kane.
- We stole a couple of his guitar picks.
- We then went to the bar for drinks.
- I downed two vodka and cokes really quickly.
- A couple of members from the support band were staring at me for some reason.
- Someone asked me to have a picture with them.... this confused me but I did it anyway.
- Someone asked me where I got my skirt from.
- We went and met Miles Kane,
- I had a picture with him,
- he signed my last shadow puppets album,
- and used my pen to sign everyone elses things.
- We went home;
- Mission accomplished.

Day 6: How you'd spend 10, 000 pound.
Hmmmmmmm well I'd probably buy my leeds fest ticket, and one for Paddy too because he'd only be jealous hehe, and I would buy all the cds I needed, ermm go to a few gigs, maybe buy some other festival tickets, because well, I could.
And if I had any money left, I'd just learn to drive and buy a car :)
Wow that's a short post, I guess I'll do day 7 too;
Things you like/don't like about the way you look
And if I had any money left, I'd just learn to drive and buy a car :)
Wow that's a short post, I guess I'll do day 7 too;
Things you like/don't like about the way you look
- Well, I love my hair the way it is at the moment, I love the colour even though it's terrible... it's black with purple at the roots, because I'm a fool with hair dye heheh
- I don't like my boobs, they are too big, now that might be a strange thing not to like, but seriously, I hate having big boobs, I'm not even sure what size they are, probably E or something hahaha
- I like the size of my feet; they are size 4 which is very convenient because hardly anyone is a size 4 meaning they always have the shoes I want in stock :)
- I don't like my posture! It's awful!
- I like my face in general, how narcissistic does that sound?! haha but yeah, I like the way my face looks
- I don't like my teeth, they arent all over the place, they are actually straight but they are too small! they are tiny, if I opened my mouth you wouldnt see them, I always wished I had sexy teeth haha
- I like my skin colour, being mixed race even when I'm pale I dont look pale like other people so it's quite nice having brown skin tones lol
- I don't like my hands, well, my fingers, they are getting a bit better, but I have always wanted them to look really feminine like my mums, but they still look like childrens hands, I suppose the size doesnt help...
- I like my skin, I'm pretty lucky I don't get many spots, I used to get them really really badly up untill last year, its great having goodish skin because I dont have to pile on the makeup :)
- I don't like my arms, I know I'm a 'curvy' girl, but that's what you get when you're dads family are all extremely MEGA hugantafatties..... but yeah, I dont like my arms, they are too big, and it doesnt help I have giant boobs!!! Oh well, at least I don't look odd :)
Saturday, 29 January 2011
Day 5: Weird things you do when you're alone.
I thought this was going to be a hard one to do, because well I don't think there's much weird stuff I do that I don't impose on my friends, but there is one thing I do when I'm alone which I don't think anyone knows about;
When I'm alone I lay on the floor facing down, and just move around the room in various ways;
A personal favourite is to just squirm and struggle in the hope that I'll move forward, also, I like to just use my arms and drag myself.
I think this is all stems back to when I was little, I used to lay on the floor and push myself around just using my legs, my mum used to tell me off, and also joke that I was polishing the floor,
So yeah it's a quite comforting thing to do, like sucking your thumb or something haha.
I think that's probably the only weird thing I do when I'm alone...
Day 4: The best thing to happen to you this week.
Well actually this week has been horrible, it's been total utter shit. So trying to think of something good that happened to me will be hard... but there wont be much competition;
I have been ill for the past 3 days, I'm not sure what with, it might be flu, lol.... but that's not really the best thing that's happened,
So I suppose the best thing that happened was, I got a new top... yes, my week has been that shit.
So here's another picture of Ryan Jarman, I don't think I've posted one for a couple of posts now hehe
Day 3: 5 things that irritate you about the opposite sex.
I can't say that anything irritates me about the male gender, there are more reasons for me to get annoyed at my own sex.
So here's my list;
- They look better in skinny jeans.
- They sometimes do stupid things like, put too much gel in their hair.
- They generally have a better taste in music than girls do (I am obviously an exception)
- They make better singers, even if they are bad ie Ryan Jarman, they get away with it, but if it was a girl it would be different...
- They need to get the message when a girl likes them and ask them out on a date maybe?!
Friday, 28 January 2011
Day 2: A famous person you've been compared to.
I'm gonna do another too, because I'm ill and bored :(
Right, well the only person I have been compared to more than once is Kate Nash;
I was once sat in the common room singing foundations, and this boy I didn't know turned to his friend and said, "Ere, dun't ya fink she looks like Kate Nash..?"
Now even though this is a really nice compliment because I love Kate Nash, I don't look like her!! I have a fringe and wear bright red lipstick, that's all. I'm not even ginger.
Another time I was compared to her, my friend Emily told me "You're the love child of Kate Nash and Ryan Jarman..."
Now this is more understandable... because I suppose this mix of person does not exist as of yet. I imagine she said this because, I have hair like Kate Nash, the hair colour of Ryan Jarman, I wear my make up like Kate Nash, and my skin colouring is pretty similar to Ryan Jarmans.... so yes, the famous person who I have been compared to doesn't exist, but if they did, I might just have to agree with it.
Maybe Kate and Ryan should have a baby now, so I can see if it turns out like me heheh.
But if they did have a baby, imagine how cool it would grow up to be?!
I'd be so jealous of that baby.
Day 1: The person you like and why you like them.
The person I like goes to my college, and to be honest, I don't know why I like him;
He loves the libertines and he has a fun personality, which is good, that might be why I like him...
But what first attracted me was the way he dressed, because it is initially looks that matter, when you don't know anything else, that is all that matters, only at first of course.
I have gotten to know him a lot more, and he is really outgoing, and I really really like him.
It just annoys me how he speaks to loads of other girls too!
I think he wants to be Pete Doherty, he certainly dresses like him, not suits and hats, but fred perrys and ripped jeans, and well I really do love Pete Doherty.... and well I find all this really attractive.
The only thing that stops him from being perfect is that I don't think he can play guitar. And there's nothing more attractive than a guitar player...

I'm going to do the 30 day challenge...
It's from tumblr but whatever, not everything is totally irrelevant, and I havent't got any ideas what to post about so yes, this will do.

Things I hate which you will probably hate me for hating.. part 1
Disclaimer: I hate these things AFTER giving them a chance, quite a few times actually, I am in no way someone who hates things that they haven't given a chance.
1) Lee Evans.
... Yes, I hate him, he is not funny at all, I know a lot of people like him, why? I really don't know.
This picture just basically sums up the biggest thing I can't stand about him, he over acts EVERYTHING, he just acts desperate for attention, and it's not funny, it's embarrassing.
He has ok material, if anyone else was performing it, like Russell Howard, it'd probably be hilarious, but his delivery is just awful.
Lee Evans is shit.
3) Family Guy
I just don't get why this is funny, it bores me to death. It's not funny, it's not witty, just what is it?
My brother makes me watch it sometimes, I just don't find stupid, funny, I don't find american humour funny either. It doesn't take a great deal of intelligence to understand the fat mans jokes, and that baby thing, what is that? Is that supposed to be funny? Because it's not.
It acts intelligent, but it's about as dull as that fat man.
It's just a childrens programme, shown after the watershed, I really do question the intelligence of the human race when they go on and on about Family guy... it lacks all that I find funny;
- Satire
- Irony
- British humour
- Intelligence and wit.
And has all that I find dull;
- Stupid people
- American humour
- Cartoon characters
- Annoying voices
- The american accent.
Here is an example why Family Guy is unfunny, and generally degrading to the human race;
I rest my case.
I will have to do a part two because I ranted about Family guy for a bit too much hahahahhahah xx
Why I love where I live...
I love where I live because;
- It's full of chavs, it makes me feel really good about myself, it's a great confidence boost.
- It's practically Leeds, ok so it's not Leeds, but it is nearly, and Leeds is great because; I'm only a train/bus ride away from going to a great gig! It's great for that... nearly everyone comes here on their tour, ... not the big stadium tours, but, like proper bands. Sorry Justin Bieber fans. (I'm also sorry you are a Justin Beiber fan.)
- We have a buttercross! I have no idea what a butter cross is, it's basically a massive stone market stall. It's weird, I like it. It also stinks of piss to add to it's charm.
- I wasn't born here! And that's great because everyone here is so charmingly stupid. Not my friends but the majority.
- It's also practically Wakefield, and this is good, because I was born in wakefield, so I'm practically part of The Cribs anyway...
- I don't have the accent, so this fascinates people who live here.
- We have two greggs directly opposite eachother. Nuff said.

Top 25 Most Played as of 23/01
So yeah, this is my top 25 most played on itunes, it's actually quite embarrassing because I don't even remember listening to Mark Ronson that much!
And I'm a bit dissapointed that the cribs (my favourite band) aren't in there!! even though I listen to them EVERYDAY!!
I think it's fair to say I really like New Romantic by Laura Marling hahha

I hate superstitions.
I'm just gonna come right out and say I can not stand superstitions, I can't stand horoscopes either, and I really can't tolerate people who act superstitious around me, it's fine if you believe in this stuff but please NOT ON MY TIME.
I don't know where my deep hatred for all this stemmed from, maybe being a take no shit atheist has something to do with it.
I have always wondered why people believe in silly things like this, for example, I am ALWAYS getting shouted at by my mum for putting umbrellas up in the house because it's 'bad luck',... woah I'm sorry!!!! I MUST NOT HAVE BEEN HERE WHEN UMBRELLAS WERE ANNOUNCED TO HAVE MAGICAL POWERS WHICH DETERMINED WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE.
My point is, when superstitions revolve around man made objects, and rely on the fact that they have some higher power which we couldn't ever comprehend with, well something got fucked up somewhere didn't it?
Black Cats- what makes a black cat any more bad luck than a ginger cat, DISCRIMINATION.
Magpies- seriously? Because it's a magpie it's bad luck? DISCRIMINATION.
The number 13- I can't understand this one at all, it has no logic to it at all, it's more than ridiculous.
Opening a packet of crisps upside down- ... this is a personal favourite, whether this is a real superstition or not, I've heard it a lot, but seriously, I don't think walkers are evil masterminds who will trigger bad luck if you open a packet of crisps upside down.
I could talk about this subject all day, and often argue about it and rant to my mum.

My January blues...
I'm really like bored and fed up at the moment, because I haven't been to a gig in forvever! I know I'm going to one in under two weeks but I dunno I just want to get back into my little gig routine I had going, where I was going to one nearly every week, but the problem is, I have no one to go with, I don't have many friends who are willing to go to all these indie gigs happening in small venues, because a) they don't really understand the concept of just going to a gig for fun or to check out a band or b) They are 17 year old CHILDREN and their mums and dads don't let them do ANYTHING. Luckily I have one friend who will go with me to gigs to people she has never heard of, which is good, but I can't abuse this, it's not fair on her.
The Cribs at Leeds Fest 2010, what a great day that was! |
I only have one other chance of happiness, my mum, my mum wants to start going to gigs and even festivals, now I am in two minds about taking up this offer, I think it's great that she wants to go start seeing gigs again, and It's not that bad going with older people, they can buy you drinks, and my dad really enjoyed an Arctic Monkeys gig I took him to, so I probably should take my mum to see mystery jets with me or maybe even to Leeds Fest... it's only like going to the cinema right?
But I just don't know, I wouldn't know who she would like or if it would be limited just to the artists she likes, I actually don't know what I am making a fuss about, although my friend was like OMG NO DON'T, which is understandable coming from her because her mum is really strict and even stopped her from coming to see Kate Nash with me! But I think my mum should be fine, my mum's cool, she likes the smiths...I better go start looking at listings then....
Ok so the thing that has got me thinking a lot these past few days is the closure of HMV stores, now I have never cared much for stories about the closure of big businesses and high street giants, but HMV, I care about this a lot, because as you probably well know, I could be described as being 'indie'... well my music taste definitely is, and if HMV ceases to exist, well it's going to be a sad day for all indie folk.
In my town we have no record stores at all, we have the supermarkets, I have bought cds at supermarkets, but you have to rely heavily on them making it into the album chart in the first place... and hardly anything does, I have only ever bought albums by Kate Nash, Mark Ronson and Laura Marling in my local supermarket, but compare that to the 100+ albums I have had to buy elsewhere, it's really nothing at all.
Yes there is Amazon, and itunes, but seriously, itunes? Your whole music collection could be deleted in an instant! And Amazon really doesn't give you that pleasure of discovering something new which you didn't even know you wanted! There's nothing better than browsing through cd racks to find that cd you read about in that magazine, or the new record by your favourite band.... and well I love the sound cd cases make hahah
I know there are lot's of statistics and numbers about indie record labels relying on hmv for the majority of their physical sales, but I don't understand that stuff, so I couldn't possibly comment, all I know is that you should care about HMV because if you're into non chart music, we need HMV.
My mum once went into WH Smiths to buy a Cribs album for my birthday and they looked at her like she just killed a child and was wearing it on her head when she asked if they had it in stock.

Hello there two thousand and eleven...
So it's 4 in the morning again, which means blogging time! -_-
Ermmm so my year 2010, well I ended it with a different name than I started it with... making my twitter and DA accounts a bit, well out of date (MissJSellers), My last name is now Wan if you didn't know, or wanted to know, or I'm just going to tell you anyway because it's quite relevant to the subject matter.
2010 was definetley a year of change for me, I started a new college, I have lots of new friends, my name of course, my mum had a baby, I look like totally different, blah blah... but most importantly I have seen loads of my favourite bands and artists live, I think if I'm correct I saw...
