Miles Kane

Yay! My first gig of 2011 is booked! I have been so desperate to go to one, I haven't been to a gig since like october... I think it was either Kate Nash or Carl Barat.... anyway yeah so 21st of January I have sort of forced one of my friends, who hasn't even heard of him t go with me, it was only like £9 :)
Oh yeah I'm going to see Miles Kane by the way, I have only heard like two songs from his solo work but whatever, hes quite fit.
So yeah Miles Kane of The Last Shadow Puppets and The Rascals, I adore The Last Shadow Puppets, their album; The Age Of The Understatement is undeniably perfect! It's definitely one of my favourite records of all time, and The Rascals, well they've split up now I think, but if you like Arctic Monkeys you'll like The Rascals, I downloaded their album last night, and it's sort of a mixture of Arctic Monkeys' Humbug and Miles Kane's solo work, just be careful when you buy it, there's another band called The Rascals, but they're some kind of 1960's soul group... I nearly made this mistake.

So yes these are all good reasons for going to his gig.... I'm really excited, I did well for gigs last year, I basically saw nearly all my favourite bands except The Smiths (...duh). Next Year I hope I get to see The Strokes and I would love for The Last Shadow Puppets to do something, oh and I really want to see Babyshambles and I need to see Mystery Jets again... I have seen them twice, they aren't even my favourite band but I want to see one band a freakish amount of times, plus their third album Serotonin is basically great! I love it and would love to hear some songs live :)

Wow this post has been very rambly... oh well.

Ok. Bye.

argrrhh

I hate my hair! It's always a mess, I cannot keep it in it's proper style.... yes I cut it myself, actually thats probably why my hair is never in place, ha!

So anyway yeah this is me.... I'm bored so I decided to show you my ugly hair and face.

wow I wish I had something to say.....

MEGA MEGA MEGA

Yesterday I bought MEGA MEGA MEGA by The Count & Sinden, now if you know me you'll know that this isn't normally the kind of record I would buy, but well if you also knew me you'd know I'm pretty much in love with Mystery Jets and well how can anyone not like After Dark! So on liking that song alone I bought it (it was £5 in Urban Outfitters... cheap!) and well to my surprise I actually like it!
I'm currently listening to what I think will be their next single, it's called Hold Me and it features vocals by Katy B... one of the quickly up coming female singers in the UK, and it's easily my favourite track on the album apart from After Dark of course.

This album isn't perfect, but it's a debut so it shouldn't have to be! Most importantly it's a fun album!

Rating: 7/10

Favourite Tracks: 'Do You Really Want It' - 'After Dark' - 'Hold Me' - 'Llamame'

Ok, Bye.

Album of the week!

My album of the week...

Sun Comes Up Again by I Am Arrows

I have chosen this record to be the first ever album of the week on my blog because it is the only CD I got this christmas haha, so I have been listening to it a lot, yes it might have been released quite a while ago but its still very brand new to me so shurrup.

I wanted this record because I really liked the singles Green Grass and Hurricane,

Green Grass just screams summer to me! and it's catchy but still subtle if you get me haha, I dunno it's just a good track!

Hurricane- I first heard this the morning after a party which was heavy with Crystal Castles, Dubstep, and Motown (...strange mix i know!), and it was on tv, it didn't click at first that this was the same band that released Green Grass, one of my favourite tracks this summer, but it was a breath of fresh air after that party... I'm sure you'll understand that... and that song it just stuck, so of course I downloaded it straight away! I played it on the jukebox at college, my friends would have preferred MIA or Biffy Clyro but I played it anyway, and well it has easily become one of my favourite tracks this year without a doubt!

And the rest of the album is consistently great! it's a great record! I haven't read any reviews on it... but I love this album a lot, and I suppose that's all that matters...

Nun is great opening track, and the denouement of the record, You've Found Love is just perfect.

Sun Comes Up Again is a very light album, you could listen to it over and over again and not tired of it, if it was food it would be a sandwich.

So if you don't have this album I suggest you go out and buy it!

Ok, Bye x

So it's like 4am again, surprise surprise, now I am going to HAVE to do an all nighter because I'm going to leeds in about 6 hours, and I cant really sleep in I don't think... well if I did my friends would be very angry :(

Today I shall talk about, ermm...  I actually have no idea what to talk about. The first thing that has popped into my head is what I shall talk about... wait for it... wait for it....

Internet relationships!
Now I don't mean like romance but more friendships, I have made a lot of friends through the internet, and they are some of the nicest people I have ever met! And I don't think there's anything wrong with making friends through the internet, because if you think about it, the internet is a HUUUGE place and if you have become friends with someone  in this huge place, then thats fate isnt it? I dunno it's just a thought.
I never make friends through websites like facebook, because well facebook isn't a very safe place to make new friends, I have had countless friend requests from men in turkey looking for a girlfriend they can treat well... eww
But on sites like DeviantArt and Tumblr everyone is genuine... I think anyway, but the friends I have made on there, well I wish I knew them in real life! Because they are some of the nicest people I have ever talked to! Some I have had the opportunity to meet which is just fantastic!

But I think romantic relationships is a different thing, I see no advantages to having a relationship with someone you may never get to hold hands with, kiss, and hold. Where's the romance in that? I take my hat off to anyone who can have a meaningful long distance internet relationship, but I myself would have no satisfaction in it! Call me old fashioned but it just seems a bit too ridiculous a thing to actually work.

So I think that's all I have to say on the subject haha... if you are one of my internet friends, well I love you like any friend... x

My favourite artists...

1) Kate Nash - She is my favourite singer song writer of all time, I mean, I am obsessed with her! Her music is just perfect, and if I had to choose a sound track for my life right now, I would choose her music (why I would get put in that position I don't know), I know this is all very cliche but I can relate to her music. A hell of a lot more than 'damn she's a sexy bitch' and shit like that.
She's my role model... and I admire her a lot, she's just perfect in my eyes, and has great taste in men (mmmmmm Ryan Jarman), she has a good voice, she's great live, she's just great :)
Oh and she picked my tshirt design to be made :) which is just great!

Favourite tracks- Birds, Kiss That Grrrl, Later On, Mansion Song, We Get On, Mariella.

2) The Libertines - Well I have never met anyone who has listened to the libertines and not like them, I think it's actually impossible. Carl Barat and Pete Doherty are just perfect together as a song writing unit, and when you start listening to the music you can't help but be drawn in by their charm! I find myself buying books about them, listening to old interviews, and just wanting to know EVERYTHING about The Libertines. You can become obsessed quickly, and well it's not a bad thing to get obsessed with...
This year I was lucky enough to see them reformed at Leeds Festival, and in the crowd everyone knew how special it was, maybe the people taking cocaine didn't but you'd hear little in jokes of libertines fans about the likely lads, and you'd see people in their red military jackets, and well it was all very special.

Favourite tracks- Death On The Stairs, Never Never (demo), Smashing (demo), I Get Along, France, and like all their songs they are all fantastic!

3) The Cribs - I could listen to The Cribs all day, and often do. They make consistantly great records, they are wonderful live, and Ryan Jarman well isn't he just adorable?
I'm actually fascinated by them, because if you know The Cribs you'll know they're from Wakefield, well I'm from Wakefield too, and well Wakefield is a shit hole, and that could be considered to complimentary, I am truly amazed that The Cribs... an amazing band came from here!
Their music is really great, I don't know how else to describe it, I think I bought all their EPs today, and they are brilliant!
And well Johnny Marr.. legend. Is a guitarist in The Cribs, need I say anymore?
Oh and I fancy the pants off Ryan Jarman, and he gave me a thumbs up :)

Favourite tracks- Housewife, The Watch Trick, Hey Scenesters, Mens Needs, Save your secrets, and like loads more I cant be arsed listing because it would take up the majority of my post!

4) The Smiths - I think it's in my blood to like The Smiths, all my uncles like them, and my mum does, and well I suppose it's only natural for me to. And they are great, I don't know how to put this into any more words, if you've never heard of them which I have met many of you! I think you need educating because The Smiths are easily one of the greatest british bands of all time, and its about time you should know that.

Favourite tracks- Frankly Mr Shankly, Bigmouth Strikes Again, Shakespeare's Sister, Panic, Nowhere Fast, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now....

5) We Are Scientists - I think this band deserves a mention because they were the first band I ever fell in love with, aged 11 I discovered them, god knows how, I didnt even read NME when i was 11, and they arent even a recognisable name now, but it doesnt matter how I discovered them, all that matters is that I love them, because they are great, they have some great songs, all three of their albums are good, and they put on a good show! I finally got to see them this year which was just fantastic and I was so close to the front! I felt like an excited 11 year old girl afterwards!
Oh and they are hilarious!

Favourite tracks- the great escape, after hours, nobody move nobody gets hurt, chick lit, rules dont stop.

6) Arctic Monkeys - I feel sorry for whoever had to listen to me when I was going through my madly deeply in love with Arctic Monkeys stage, they are a fantastic band, i saw them live and they were great! They have the best b sides in the world, and  I love them, I don't think I will ever stop loving them, I don't listen to them as much as I used to do but they hold a special place in my heart :') haha If you dont listen to them, I suggest you go out and buy all their albums straight away!

Favourite tracks- teddy Picker, When The Sun Goes Down, Cornerstone, Still Take You Home, Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend, Bigger Boys And Stolen Sweethearts, Fake Tales Of San Fransisco..............

I think this is enough of my favourite artists for now.

Ok, Bye.

xx

Hi I'm Jess!

This is actually such a ridiculous hour, to either wake up or go to sleep so I guess I will have to sit it out, I'm so tired I'm wide awake, so I decided to create a blog (another blog I guess, because I have tumblr), I know no one will read this, well maybe one person but whatever. Don't give a shit to be honest.
So my name is Jess, I like music, I actually think about music more than any normal person, now I don't know all the up and coming indie acts, but I sure do know I love music.

Ok, bye.
